The Bours Health Center, P.C. is a private medical practice established in Forest Grove in 1975 by W. A. 'Peter' Bours, MD and his wife Joan Moss, MN, RN. A second office was opened in northeast Portland in 1991, and a third office in Eugene in 2003.
The Bours Health Center specializes in providing a full range of family planning services, including abortion. Our goal is to combine the experience, expertise, and reasonable cost of a large clinic with the individualized care, privacy, and ambience of a private medical office.
Dr. Bours graduated from Stanford University in 1966 and received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1970. He practiced as a board certified family physician for many years but is now limiting his practice to family planning.
Ms. Moss graduated from San Francicso State University in 1969 and received her BS in nursing from the University of California San Francisco in 1972. She later returned to school and in 1992 received her master degree in nursing from Oregon Health & Science University and became a nurse practitioner in women's health care.
The couple has been working together since 1975. They began their practice as a doctor-nurse homebirth team and later had a birth center at their Forest Grove office. Though they were better known for their birthing practice, from the beginning, feeling that women choosing abortion deserved similarly compassionate care, they also offered abortion services.
Bours Health Center is a member of the National Abortion Federation, where Dr. Bours has served on the board. He is a member of the medical advisory committee of Planned Parenthood of Southwesten Oregon.
Dr. Bours has been providing therapeutic abortions and vasectomies since 1975. All procedures at all three offices are performed by Dr. Bours.
Dr. Bours, Ms. Moss and several other staff members speak Spanish.
